Why is it called "Blondes Can't Cook"?"If you've taken a peek at the About Me page, perhaps you realized that I am, in fact, a blonde. Here's the story behind the name: Some friends were over one evening for pizza and a movie. I was recounting a tantalizing interview I'd just had with a New York literary agent concerning my up-and-coming cookbook. "So I was telling her, that's how I ended up at a hole-in-the-wall empanada stand in the Dominican Republic at 11 o'clock at night, telling blonde jokes to a New Zealander!" I concluded. I had just taken the result of a new recipe out of the oven when my husband said, "What is that? I thought you said we were having pizza." "It is pizza," I replied. "It's pizza pull-apart bread." A friend took one look at the steaming mass and said, "Blondes can't cook." Amid the ensuing laughter, I wasn't upset - in fact, I thought, Eureka! That's the perfect name for my next cookbook - and the website that proceeds it.
