Disaster Relief Available for Gardeners Affected by Natural Disasters
If you're looking for one of those moments that affirms the goodness of humanity, this is it. I couldn't help smiling when the following email hit my inbox:
There are two things I love about this. First is the long-term interest in the well-being of those impacted. A packet of seeds isn't going to feed them today or put a roof over their heads tomorrow, but it will help them to heal and find joy.
Second, I love the invitation to share the information with others. You can access the disaster relief application here. Don't forget to send it to anyone you know who may have been affected by recent storms or other natural disasters.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, gardening provided a respite and escape and helped me maintain my emotional well-being. When my home and garden were struck by a tornado last year, I found myself running around in the freezing rain trying to locate the plants that had been inside my greenhouse and protect them from the falling temperatures - all while my husband was working hard to cover our missing roof with tarps! No doubt, these tiny miracles known as seeds will likewise comfort plant parents and gardeners as they recover from recent storms.
