Hearty Winter Oatmeal

Does wintry weather make you want to just stay in bed in the morning? Try this warm, hearty breakfast to get your day off to the right start. It includes a serving of fruit as well as plenty of whole grains and fiber to keep you at the top of your game.

Servings: 2

Prep time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

1 cup water

1 cup almond milk

1 cup old fashioned oats

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp raw cane sugar

1 tsp whole flax seed

1/3 cup raisins

Pinch of sea salt

Nutmeg for garnish

Preparation

1. Combine water, almond milk, and salt in a small sauce pan. Bring to a boil.

2. Add oats and reduce heat to medium. Stir in cinnamon, sugar, flax seed, and raisins.

3. Simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

4. Remove to serving bowls and garnish with a sprinkle of nutmeg; freshly ground is best.

5. Enjoy!
